NY Website To Protect Homeowners From Bad Contractors

A new website Know Your Contractor is giving New Yorkers a chance to air their grievances about bad home contractors. Attorney General Andrew Cuomo unveiled a website to help New Yorkers avoid home improvement scams and dishonest contractors.

The site features a database of contractors who have had complaints or lawsuits filed against them. It also offers tips on what consumers should do before hiring one.

According to Cuomo launching the site is timely because of instability in the housing market, which is keeping people in the same homes for longer.

The Office of the Attorney General provides New Yorkers the tools they need to make informed decisions when it comes to hiring a home improvement contractor.
